I'm hoping my grandbaby, Tristan, has more interest in quilting than his Mommy.
I
learned to sew when I was nine years old. I don't remember why but it was very important to me to be in 4-H. The only options were animals and sewing. I was told no animals because we lived in the city. So I learned to sew. Later, I discovered it was just Moms' house that didn't allow animals. I still love fabric and sewing. Mom still does not allow animals in her house.
About ten years ago I discovered quilting. I was hooked. Quilting fabric. Quilting books. Graph paper, colored pencils and crayons. And all those COOL TOYS! Just for quilters. How could this get any better?
T
he problem I ran into, as my skills improved and my quilts grew, was finishing them. There is just so much fabric you can force through a domestic sewing machine. UFOs. And more UFOs. I have someone in my house who asks "Why are you starting another quilt? You haven't finished the last one."

Good thing we are middle aged and a lot more understanding and patient than when we were younger.
W
hen I decided to purchase a long arm quilting machine, I relied on my industrial and professional sewing experience to help me choose the best machine for my needs. I decided on the Gammill Optima with a Statler Stitcher. Performance, dependability, versatility and ease of operation of the Gammill are outstanding. With the Statler Stitcher I can choose from thousands of designs that are already digitized or digitize my own. I can place these designs perfectly, every time.

ow that I have caught up with my stack of unfinished quilt tops, I enjoy helping other quilters finish their quilts. And shopping for fabric. Thank you for stopping by Dancing Elephant Custom Quilting and Embroidery.
